Beau Biden, son of VP Joe Biden passed away this past Saturday from brain cancer. He was 46 years old and left a wife and two young children. His Dad, Joe, lost his wife and youngest daughter in a train collision in the 70's. Beau was 4 years old and was in the hospital recovering from the accident when Joe was sworn in as a U.S. Senator. Joe insisted that he be sworn in by his sons bedside. Beau was a very beloved public figure who served as attorney general and prosecuted over 200 child sex offenders in Delaware including Dr. James Bradley who was the worst child sex offender in U.S. history. He removed 120 children from abusive situations. The family has asked anyone wishing to make a contribution that in lieu of flowers they make a contribution to the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children. Beau served 1 year in Iraq with the National Guard and was awarded the Bronze Star. With his political pull he could have stayed stateside but chose to go to Iraq. Beau was planning to run for governor in 2016 and he would have won hands down.
Condolences are pouring in from all over the U.S. and abroad. He was respected across all party lines as honest, tough, fair and was willing to reach across the aisle for the good of of all citizens. A rare commodity today. But he was most admired as a good family man with a strong faith that adored his wife and 2 children. He would talk to and help anyone who needed his help. President Obama will deliver the eulogy on Saturday at St. Anthony's in Wilmington. Please say a prayer for this extraordinary young man. Thank You.

I heard the sad news on NPR yesterday afternoon. No father should have to bury a child. Joe has had it far worse. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.
