I was not holding down the End button long enough to turn it on. Maybe as one who seldom uses it I would have held it down longer if it was labeled better (or if I had a memory). So I now have a free extra battery and I proved to myself that charging it 24x7 does not wreck the battery - just as I thought.

All kidding aside, I had myself tested in 2009 for fear I might be. They said no. And, said the test would be good as a baseline if I ever wanted tested again. And then they said other stuff but I can't remember what.
