Ray, Polio didn't cause autism.
There was a physician in the UK who had developed a new vaccine for DPT or something similar.
The existing vaccine was fairly well entrenched in the market.
In order to break in with his product he published "research" which showed that the existing product caused autism in kids.

Have you considered contacting the auction houses like Christies or Sotheby's. They probably have appraisers who could advise you on the value.
