They tell me the Tigers are in for the first time in 10 years. I did see 15 minutes of one inning this year.

I am glad Mets and Braves both celebrated at the end of a long day! Here we go for the Wild Card games today!

Go O’s. They have been awful leading up to the playoffs. Hoping they break out of their slump.

He was one of the best players I have ever seen and was an integral part of the big red machine. He made the game exciting and should not have been banned for a minor gambling issue. Other athletes and teams have done worse things like steroids and signal stealing (Astros). RIP.

I totally agree Ray, it is sad that he went to his grave with all of his accomplishments overshadowed by the one mistake. Love the video below

I think Pete should be in the HoF as a player. Without doubt.

However, it wasn't one little mistake. It was three years according to the reports, both betting on baseball (which in any sport, betting on the same sport you are participant in is illegal IIRC), but also betting on his own team (yes, only to win, lol)....

Again, Pete Rose, 24 years as a player, all time hits leader (and probably other stats too), 17 All Star games, MVP, 3x WS Champ, etc.... Hall of Fame, all day, every day!

We haven't seen the impact, if any of the Astros sign stealing thing, and pending the players, may never. We saw the steroid issue. They didn't need to be banned, the writers chose to keep them out. I'm also not sure that steroids or sign stealing is worse than betting on your own teams games.

What does get me... The investigation into Ohtani's, his translator, whoever else and those bets... took what, a few weeks, and its gone now. If he were a mid-level player, he'd be gone IMHO, but he's a superstar in today's MLB world and its different. Pete was a star in a different generation.

It really wasn't just a minor gambling issue, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he was one of the greatest ball players of the last 75 years. He belongs in the Hall of Fame. So does Shoeless Joe Jackson.
