I wonder if it's difficult to get a car loan in China.

Boy, they got it all right in that article....just like in the US of A:

"But no vehicle in China has developed as ironclad a reputation as the Audi A6, the semiofficial choice of Chinese bureaucrats. From the country’s southern reaches to its northern capital, the A6’s slick frame and invariably tinted windows exude an aura of state privilege, authority and, to many ordinary citizens, a whiff of corruption."

“Audi is still the de facto car for government officials,” said Wang Zhi, a Beijing taxi driver who has been plying the capital’s gridlocked streets for 18 years. “It’s always best to yield to an Audi — you never know who you’re messing with, but chances are it’s someone self-important.”
Jerry, why do you react to people who buy a luxury car like they have some sort of moral deficiency or character flaw? What's the difference if someone spends their money on a car?

on a somewhat related topic.
I just read an article on " http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Naked marriages on rise in China "
Apparently it was customary to have a house for your bride before you got married.
If you did not, you were going into marriage naked.

As costs soar in the cities, more couples in China are opting for 'naked marriages' - those without the once-required trappings of a house, a car, and other goods.

That is different from what I thought a naked marriage would be.

same here. My mind went elsewhere and not to houses or cars.

I really wish that the Discovery Channel would re-broadcast the show that Ted Koppel did a few years ago over four nights called: China, The Peoples Republic of Capitalism. IMHO it should be mandatory watching for EVERY AMERICAN (especially Wal-Mart shoppers).

This show is available on Net Flix.
