My thoughts are with you and your daughter. I hope she makes the right decision.

I can relate to this. From 1994-1996 I lived with a herniated L5 disc. Excruciatingly painful. Once I crawled into the emergency room on all 4's. I could not walk. Chronic pain is brutal. When the surgeon opened me up he said the nerve ending that was being irritated by the disc material was just screaming it was so inflamed. Here are two thoughts that may be helpful to you. 1. I remember when I was living with the chronic pain that my breathing had become much shallower. I was taking more, but shallower breaths. I think this affected the oxygen levels in my blood and had a negative impact. Take big deep breaths whenever you can to re-oxygenate the blood. 2. When I'm down or in pain I try to write a gratitude list. Not just think about things, but actually write them down. There are so many things we have to be grateful for (like this beautiful mid-70's sunny day!) that just writing them down has the effect of changing our attitudes and more importantly gives us all important perspective. Lastly, remember you have a pal right down the road so don't hesitate to call for help or just come for a vist. As I recall I have 2 lunch invites out to you so I'm just waiting to hear when you're up to it.

Carmen, you have always been very, very dear to me. I know we need to find the time to get together with you and when we do it will be wonderful as it always is. I know meeting up with you is wayyyy overdue! We have two biggies coming up this weekend and hopefully after that we'll have some breathing room. Thank you so much for posting. It means a lot since I know you don't frequent the board so much anymore.
