Another HS Shooting

Awful. If you want to own an gun, there are responsibilities that come with it. These are the same people that will scream about their rights to own a weapon.

A few years ago a prominent gun instructor let his young child fire an automatic Uzi machine gun, the kickback of the weapon caused it to turn towards the child's head and with it being automatic it caused a continuous motion until the weapon was pointed at the child's own head and they could not release the trigger. It happened so fast. I remember seeing the video and it was horrific.

My father was an avid moose hunter. He had a handful of Browning Rifles sitting around the house (unlocked) with bullets that could kill a moose from a very long distance. I got into a few school fights when I was young, but I didn't take a gun to school. Fists and feet were enough back then, it sure was a different world back then.

Joey, you triggered an interesting thought.
I, too, remember school yard fights. I think I lost most of them but it didn't stop me from defending myself.
Bulk shootings are essentially a male domain.
I wonder if our social effort to suppress violence has repressed the ability of young men to learn to deal
with aggressive tendencies with more benign outcomes.
I'd much rather have a 8 year old fist fight vs an 16 year old shooting.

I even remember that our elementary school (Catholic) would have group fights with the local public school a couple times per year. There would have been maybe 20-30 people showing up to fight, not a one of them even had a knife or bat, or other weapon. Today that scene would be rife with weapons.
I have done a pretty good job raising my son who was born in 2001. But I have told my wife many many times that I don't understand people of his age very well, and I don't relate to how younger generations view daily life. My wife just shrugs it off but it something that causes me some grief from time to time.
