Another blood pressure drug recall
The FDA just announced that Losartan is being recalled due to the risk it might cause cancer. I started using it because this past summer because the drug I had been using for years called Valsartan was recalled this past July because it might cause cancer. They were tainted by a product used to make liquid rocket fuel!! So nice to know since I took 160mg daily over the entire 4 year period that this was apparently happening.
But thankfully after more investigation, including contacting the Rx pharmacy that filled it, I learned my current pills are not effected. It is only the ones that are a combination of Losartan and potassium. The recall happened after the Chinese company was inspected.

If I am not mistaken, Losartan is always sold as the potassium salt, Losartan Potassium, so even if your pill container does not say Losartan Potassium, it still has potassium in it.
(Losartan is generally marketed as the (basic) potassium salt of the aromatized negatively charged tetrazole, called "losartan potassium.")
However, the voluntary recall by the drug company, Sandoz, is not for Losartan Potassium by itself; it is for the combination drug Losartan Potassium combined with Hydrochlorothiazide. This recall is for the combined drug which contains 100 milligrams of Losartan Potassium and 25 milligrams of Hydrochlorothiazide combined in one tablet.
Here is a useful website with drug recall info.

Our Dr. took my wife off Valsartan last August and put her on Losartan due to that recall. .
Yesterday he took her off Losartan and put her back on Valsartan due to that recall and the fact that Valsartan is again available. .
This is getting kind of silly [I'm not sure "silly" is the right word for this].
Me...I'm on Lisinopril and scotch for blood pressure issues.
