Haha
Just tell him to dream on!!
(Hey, when you guys come to Durango you can drive my Rio up the mountain roads! I have the car in Houston right now for service at Curt’s, my mechanic’s shop.) In October I’m driving it to S2kCA Days in Kentucky. Then back to my garage in Durango.

Remember station wagons? Of course you do! I had a 1979 Ford Fairmont. What a POS.

73 Olds Custom Cruiser (white/red), they sold this one earlier this year.
77 Olds Custom Cruiser (brown/brown with wood grain)
85 Olds Custom Cruiser (white/blue)
92 Mercury Sable (silver/grey)
My mother still has a 2000 BMW 528i wagon, dark blue/w tan leather.
I love a good wagon, pity we don't get them anymore. We tried getting a Volvo wagon earlier this year but they've stopped doing them here so we got the sedan instead.

Then a 79 volare' with a slant six, then a K-car wagon with a 2.2 4 banger then another K-car wagon with a 2.5 4 banger. My cousin's had a red vista cruiser wagon with the glass roof that was pretty neat.

The last one my family owned. Bro in the front yard after the biggest snowstorm we had living there. Think we missed about nine days of school. Simca in front half buried. At first we could only get out from the back porch door. Drifts blocked the rest.

My first car was a 1964 Rambler Station Wagon with a flat head 6 cylinder and three on the tree. Engine quit working after the first oil change. It took almost two hours for the old oil to drain it was so thick. When I put new oil in it had NO compression. Sold it for $50.

You may want to snag one of these maps, a AAA called Indian Country. Cartographers and motorists pretty much agree this was (is) probably the best road map ever made for the USA. It was to be discontinued several years ago but it may have been re-issued.
You will never get the "big picture" or the details like this using Google or even Ulman City Maps to Go (One of my favorites to download on my iPad with Bad Elf driving off grid/no cell coverage)

I have been through that area several times with and without the kids, camper, et all. Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods, Canyon de Chelly, and on and on. Classic driving. I never went to Durango but at Mexican Hat headed to Arches and then Capitol Reef, Bryce and Zion. Bring good binoculars. The stars at night are like they are over the ocean.

When we did our canyon tour in that area ew found an interesting way to find the Indian reservations.
When driving along and you reached a point where you looked out the window that was so desolate and barren and then wondered how could anything ever survive out here?
You could almost be guaranteed to find the beginning of XXX Indian reservation lands signage.
