Well Robb, an electric vehicle spends energy when it moves.
That is why in city driving they are so much better.
It can sit still almost indefinitely and still have charge unlike gas stays running.
The fly in the ointment is interior environmental controls.
Cabin heat in an ICE is waste byproduct.
An EV has to create it from it's reserve stores which will limit range.

I would like to experience an EV in cold temps to see how well it keeps the cabin warmed up and defrosted. I assume the heat comes on quickly being and electric source and you don't have to wait for things to warm up like you do in an ICE setup. I like my cabin really warm in winter plus all of the defrosting needed for all of the windows. I am afraid I would suffer from battery drain anxiety, it happens to me with my laptop and my cel phone, the car would be even worse for me lol

Yeah I was thinking that. I think bottom line is the answer to all the questions about ev's running out of power while out on the road is they are going to have to come out with something that tow/rescue companies carry that will add a quick charge to a dead ev. It all comes down to being the same principle as when an ice vehicle runs out of gas.

Speaking of recovering energy, in cold weather do EVs take advantage of the heat generated by the batteries to help warm the interior? I would think so.

I'm watching a video that showed up in one of the Hemmings e-mails I get. It's a you tuber mechanic who is trying to get a seized MG midget that has been sitting for a long time running. The guy seems to have mechanical knowledge but admittedly doesn't know much about MG's, they keep referring to it as a 73 but they are off by close to 10 years I've only seen part 1 so far but I am finding it interesting.

I'm listening to a car show on the radio and a guy just called and said he bought a new Yukon Denali and he said it was eighty eight thousand dollars that's insane to me.
