Camera Tips

How to photograph your car. A well-composed photo is always best. Here are some tips to help you take an excellent photo of your car.

Things to avoid if possible
Do not take the photos while parked on the grass. The green reflects up onto the side panels and bumpers. Do not park under a tree, it will be reflected onto the hood and roof. Sun glare is your worst enemy. Take the pictures on a cloudy day or at dusk/dawn.

Use different angles
Don’t be afraid to take some shots laying on the ground or standing on a ladder. Different angles can produce some very nice shots.

Use a good digital camera. This is probably the most important tip. Set your camera to take the highest quality possible as well as largest picture possible.

Pick the right time of day to take your photo
Don’t photograph you car when the sun is directly overhead, this will wash out the color and create unwanted glare. The best time is at sunup or sundown.

Lights on
Try turning your parking lights on you would be surprised what a difference it can make.

I will be borrowing a friends 18mm fixed focal lens.
It's hard to do good details work without it.

I'm not sure I belong in the shutter bug category.
I don't have an artists eye.

meanwhile there are other eyes in the household, I will be deferring to talent.

Thanks a lot, Dave. I really could have used that advice before my photo session, especially if the blond was available.

I did not take any of these but saved them from various posts on this site. I liked them as they featured the best color: Rio Yellow Pearl. Just like my 2009.

I now own a ‘07 Rio and none of that has happened! When can I expect it?

It happens all the time to me, even when I am flying!

No wonder Rick wanted the yellow S2000! Too bad for him, we got a better price on the Suzuka Blue.

Thank's go to tof for telling me about this. It makes me glad I've got mine with Hagerty insurance.
