Oh, my god, like our Governor says fix the damn roads . ....... and that got her elected..... and 67% are still BAD per the 2023 survey.

Wow a politician not doing what they promised that is shocking. I bet they could find someone else to blame for it not getting done. They seem to be good at that.

I have now filled the gas tank in my BMW X5 twice just to check the mileage, not because it was empty. It got 23.4 mpg on premium where my Pilot got about 21 mpg on regular. That's a nice improvement for something more fun to drive.

What was the % before? 67 to 67- NOTHING happened. less than 67 to 67 - it got worse, but if it was more than 67 to 67, there's progress.

A statistic is a point in time number. To compare it requires at least one more.

It's the city/township officials that are in charge of fixing and repairing the roads, governor just gets the funds allocated to the state. Blame the local officials, I do.

Depending on what number you want to focus on, here's a report summary. "About one in four primary roads and highways in Michigan are in good condition.Of the remaining federal-aid roads, 41% are in fair condition and 33% are in poor condition. Michigan’s 2023 Roads & Bridges Annual Report, published June 2024, showed a slight increase in “good” roads but the same rate of “poor” roads from the previous year’s report card. As for local (non-federal-aid) roads, about 22% were good, 31% fair, and 47% poor."

Since 3/4ths of all my driving is back roads I stand by my estimate that 2/3rds of them are really bad.

Sure, Michigan's roads have been in a steady decline for at least 15 years. Sam's comment about who's responsible is likely accurate but some of the poor decision making by either the county or cities is .
