Thank you, I was very close to going with a Golf R but after test-driving both the GTi and the R , the GTi just seemed like a better daily driver for us - smaller turbo with lots of low end torque, better fuel economy, less complex drivetrain, 87 fuel vs premium, but I really liked the R if it was just a weekend fun car.

The Golf R has bigger tires/ wheels, and some handling upgrades make it a bit stiffer, a bit more noise but not bad. The Golf R has a different sounding engine/powertrain , a bit louder exhaust. NVH is still very good in the R.

I guess the good news is this is out of my budget.
But if there was ever a perfect color combo. This pushes all of the right buttons.
