I have a friend with a 2019 (I think) Honda HRV with about 43K miles on it. It needs tie rod ends and a steering box (?) That seems like low mileage, on a Honda to need that kind of work. She did buy it used with less than 20K miles on it, if I recall.

Anyone heard of these issues? Maybe Hondas are not "Bulletproof" anymore.

I'm no longer sold on Hondas. I have been a die hard fan since 1982 when I bought my Prelude but my next daily may be a Toyota.

 

That does seem like very low mileage for that kind of problem. I don't know if it's attributable to the fact that the HR-V was a new model or to a general decline in the quality control at Honda or both. One of my clients bought a 2024 HR-V and it's been recalled twice, once for a problem with seat belts and once for the "exploding" rear window. The rear window problem has to do with the product coming from the supplier and I believe Honda claimed the same about the seatbelts. Regardless, this is inexcusable for a product coming from Honda. While other companies have had recalls, Toyota has just had a massive one, its no excuse and doesn't justify problems with Hondas.

Adam has told me that they are taking quality control very seriously and are working to improve it. I hope he's right.
