I just watched a show with the Toyota Tacoma chief engineer talking about their new lineup. I was impressed with their "shock absorber" seats in the off road version. But I really smiled when he talked for 5+ minutes about how he loved a manual transmission and insisted it be retained. He said so far it is only representing 6% of their sales and he knows it a dying breed thanks to gov't regs. but at least for now the Taco will make it available.

I can hardly bring myself to admit this but I'm seriously considering trading the S2000 in for...a truck.

I don't mean an F150/Silverado/Ram either, which are stupidly overpriced and mostly impractical here anyway, I'm talking a proper, cab-over-engine, small truck. It'll be slow and ugly and uncomfortable, but many have a 10x6 (or thereabouts) tipping bed with a 6,600lb payload as well as a 6,600lb tow rating, and we have a whole lot of dirt to shift around the place over the next few years. I could put the 1.7T digger on the back of it and hire myself out for small jobs. I can even drive it on a car licence if it's under 13,200lb laden.

All I have to do is come to terms with the thought of trading an S2000 for...a truck.

Sorry to hear that Sam but I get it. If not for my wife's back issues I would still have my S2000. You need to let Scoots know if you follow through.

Sam,

I understand where you're coming from. I've considered selling my S2000, or at the very least giving it to my son Adam. I only put 137 miles on it in 2023, and it hasn't been out of the garage since October. The only problem is that every time I start to think that way I think about my MGB and wish I'd never sold it and still had it today. I know if I got rid of it, I'd regret it soon after.
