Went to Barretts Jackson last week in Scottsdale for 3 days. My first time. Oh my! I saw cars I had never even heard of. There were some shockingly good deals on mid 2000 Mercedes SL and other cars. Tons of Vettes and Mustangs of all years. Saw 3 S2000s, all AP1s. Thunderbirds, Citroen, Range Rovers, and quite a few late Bentley's. All the Rolls Royces cars were older except one very long and ship like 2002. It was a yacht.

I made an appointment to get my 2017 Pilot worked on for the "minor" oil pump leak. It'll be over $2,000 when it's done. I'm taking it in on Jan 29th and they'll give me a a loaner Subaru. The oil is starting to show on my garage floor. It's a tad over 64,000 miles so I'm getting the timing belt and water pump done too. I got a few quotes and this one is in the middle and at a highly respected shop in Loveland, Metric Motors. I'll feel better when it's done. It's been over a year since I was told that the oil pump was sweating.
^Here's the ending to that story. The leak was caused by a bad gasket on the oil filter adapter. I never knew there was such a thing as an oil filter adapter. No need for a timing belt and water pump. I feel confident in my Pilot's "health" now. Peace of mind is good to have.
The total cost to me was $1,361.03 (including $54.97 shop supplies and $31.31 tax) but some important fluids were also changed.
Here are all the details. Metric Motors also performed a "Complimentary 35 Point Vehicle Wellness Inspection".
Check Oil Leaks-Replace oil filter adaptor and oil filter
Lifted vehicle and checked for leaks. Found severe leak from the oil filter, area near the filter is wet. Replaced oil filter, cleaned area, added die to the engine oil. Ran vehicle on the lift to check for other leaks, found the oil filter adapter leaking where it connects to the oil pump. Removed adapter and replaced gasket. Verified oil filter and adapter leak no longer present.
Labor: $230.07 Parts $49.56. Total for that: $279.63
But, there's more that was done due to the inspection finding issues.
GDI Fuel Induction Service
Cleaned carbon deposits from intake manifold runners and valves on Direct Injection system. I learned that my Pilot has a Direct Injection system and how that is different from the fuel being injected above the valve.
Labor: $184.95 Parts: $197.12 Total for that: $382.07
Brake Fluid Exchange Service
Found brake fluid contaminated with copper. Exchanged brake fluid, bled entire hydraulic system to prevent internal wear.
Labor: $150.43 Parts: $24.95 Total for that: $175.38
Transmission Service
Found automatic transmission fluid dark. Drained transmission fluid, refilled, ran engine and shifted gears to mix fluid that remained in the system and torque converter. Drain and refilled transmission fluid again.
Labor: $176.98 Parts: $140.74 Total for that: $317.72
4 Wheel Alignment
Observed steering wheel is crooked during road tests. Checked alignment, fount front and rear toe out of spec. Performed alignment.
Labor: $119.95 Parts: 0 Total for that: $119.95
Some of the other Items that were also checked and found in good condition were: engine air filter, cabin air filter, battery, coolant, brakes, tires struts, shocks, transfer case fluid, rear differential fluid. That was good to know.

It wouldn't be an inspection if they didn't find something needed, but it all sounds like good work and the sled can keep running for a long time.

Patty, what kind of gasoline do you usually put into it? I thought a top tier gas generally keeps deposits to a minimum from additives.
How can copper contaminate brake fluid? Where is copper used in the brake system?
As far a transmission fluid change, what they did with yours is one way to do it but another is a machine that is tied into the inlet and outlet for transmission fluid. Old fluid is pushed out and the new stuff put in. As the engine is running during this procedure, pretty much all the fluid is removed and replaced.
