This popped up today. Rick was a long time parts manager at the AMC/Jeep dealership his brother and a partner opened. When I mentioned this car, my car guy was quickly rattling off specs/options. Who says drinking destroys brain cells?
They opened the dealership in 1973, so the hey day of the Javelin was almost done, but he was most familiar with them.

I was 16 with a shiny new license. My only experience was driver's ed in a three-on-the-tree underpowered sedan.
My dad's friend asked me to move his AMX, the shortened Javelin with no back seat and 390 V8. It seems the car was blocking a boat launch. Thing scared the piss out of me but I got it moved with no damage and minimal wear on the clutch.

^ I'm not sure if that was the one which was like a hatchback version ? A guy I knew had one of those which he modified, the front wheels would lift off the ground whenever he launched it hard, he needed a wheelie bar to keep the front end from getting way too high, it was a daily driver on the street. It was really fast in modified form.

I was asked by a wealthy customer if I could remove some keyed scratches on his new Range Rover and 1 year old Porsche. They were fairly deep so I said I can’t promise I can get them out. He brought them to my home garage where I do my detailing. I used some aggressive compound with my most aggressive foam pad and German Flex Orbital polisher. It took some time but I got them out. I followed up with a good polish and a ceramic coating. I charged him a fair price and he gave me a very nice tip as it saved him a lot of money if he had to get the cars painted. When he picked up the cars he checked out my garage. He was impressed with the heat/ac split, sound system and 50 inch TV. I said that the only thing missing was a compact fridge. His personal assistant dropped off a compact fridge the next day as a further gesture of his appreciation. Not all rich people are snobs, He was a regular car guy.
