Wow I didn't realize that either, I guess Honda still likes using them. I've replaced enough timing belts in my days I don't want to own any more cars that have them. s
My 2005 NSX has about 42,000 miles on it and it's about 19 years-old. It's on the original timing belt. I've been quoted 5 to $6,000 for that complete job including all hoses and the water pump. I will probably be getting it done this winter/spring.
My Ferrari had a timing belt, it’s a big deal on those as they are interference engines and very expensive to repair if a belt breaks and pistons/valves meet in a bad way. Rule of thumb is to change them every 5 years 30,000 miles. Some models they can be replaced by going through the right rear wheel well others you have to pull the engine which is a lot more$$$.
I would not want to see the invoice on that repair - that must be pretty expensive.

Patty I would seriously get that changed right away. Time is just as important as mileage and 19 years is way to long.

Not as bad as you would think. It was around 1400 dollars to do timing belts tensioners bearings etc.
When I bought the car I worked it into the deal since the car had been sitting for a long time and was due.

The NSX has a timing belt? $6K is way cheaper than a valve job or even an engine overhaul.
The only vehicle I own now with a belt is our 01 4runner. Scion tC, S2k and Tacoma all have chains which I prefer.
I am going to have to figure out which one and replace a wheel speed sensor on the 4runner here at some point. The issue with that vehicle is that by the time shit breaks on it, it has so many miles that stuff is sometimes hard to get apart lol. Especially with it having been a MN vehicle its whole life up until 2 years ago.
