One thing is for sure, you can bet the car was not abused if it has 6 inches of dust on it. Kinda like Nature's mothball.

Normally i hate facebook marketplace but I was on there this morning.
A '75 Merc 450Sl popped up, it had just been posted in the next town over.
Been sitting for a quite a while, owned by older guy who had to go into long term care.

High mileage but assuming the frame is good you can fix anything with time and money except rust.

First glance, hmmm looking ok.
then I checked the bottom of the drivers fender, oooh rust bubble.
Lay on garage floor, tap floor pan.... get soft wump response, tap again, different place. rust from floor pan drops into hand.

'Oh well thanks but no thanks. This is a parts car."

run, don't walk, run away.
I know those are tanks and run forever but still 190k is a lot of miles and for a couple of grand more you could get a driver. With that being said being a car nut is a kind of sickness and I don’t fault you a bit for checking it out. I found an E-type on Craigslist last night for 29k that drives and I had to talk myself down from going to look at it.

I was looking at a 450SL on Hemmings.
the following was in the link when talking about the brakes:
“The brakes have no issues, the pedal is not mushy, and they can lock up the tires.”
and then it struck me... oh yeah this wouldn't have ABS not entirely a bad thing but it would require some driving habits long since forgotten.

Dealing with high rise buildings and underground parking garages every day my biggest fear is burning scooters/bikes , and some day cars.

Well you are perfectly safe, unless some very odd issue arises with an electrical vehicle fire, it would be rare but I don't ever want to see one at my properties.
