Went to the commissary this morning. Saw a nice Ferrari red convertible with tan interior. Top was down. Parked at the back of the lot with no cars around. I wondered who in that store could afford the car.

Are you forgetting that retirees can shop at the base too? A lot of the beltway bandits are retired staff who consult after they get out of the service.
Some do rather well. like really well. I know I've met them. The value of knowing how who to make the right introductions to has tremendous value.
But you'll never see any of them in the news. it's all behind the scenes.
