Doesn't a Chinese company own the MG brand now?

Of course they do. Some day they will probably own GM and Ford.

Freshly painted wire wheels and new tires mounted. Spent several days doing an annual lube and inspection. Only issue was both rebound straps on the rear axle were busted; new ones ordered. Now I just have to plan a route to Memphis for the national meet.

Rebound straps on the rear axle serve to limit downward motion of the axle. This is intended to catch the axle when the car goes airborne, or when it may encounter a sudden steering transition that causes excess body roll. The axle must not be allowed to drop so low as to hit end of travel of the shock absorbers or to land on the exhaust pipe. The originals were fantastic and lasted for decades, the new replacements are generally crap from China or the UK. I have one supplier on the east coast that I always trust to have the best parts or to sort out the best of the lot available.
