My sister in law and her husband have a Subaru that the battery goes dead all of the time and Subaru can’t figure it out! They went thru tree batteries last year alone! They are sick of it and are in the hunt for another vehicle.

That happened to my 2019 WRX once, and we could not figure out why, I didn't even wait to figure out the issue I went and bought an aftermarket battery immediately following the event and never had another issue with it. I could have gotten a battery under warranty from Subaru but I didn't trust their batteries after that happened and I went aftermarket. There is some kind of battery recall with Subaru, I think the issue is more with the batteries than the vehicle, but who knows ?

My 2016 Civic would shut down when using remote start as soon as you got into the car. I always found it to be very frustrating as you had to restart the vehicle upon entry, rather than just driving away like you can do with all other vehicles. Looking back at it now I guess it makes sense as you would need the fob on you to restart the car, so you could never drive off without the fob. I think it was also a security feature in case someone tried to drive off with the car while idling on remote start.

tell them to wrap their keys in aluminum foil and put them in a metal pan with a metal lid when they aren't using them and see if it makes the problem go away.
maybe the keys are simply to close to the car.

It happened several times at a Boston airport parking lot while their keys were in Europe.

Maybe they should try regular car batteries instead of tree batteries.

my weekends misery..

As I said before, the bolts have a little skin over the actual head of the bolt.
it "should be" a 17 mm torx head but will fit a 17 mm hex head. when the two get mixed the head deforms and niether fits.
sometimes this cause the skin to just spin around the head without causing it to turn.
The only action then remaining is call to the rabbi. Except he has to have a narrow 1/8" cold steal chisel. Note the bris result on the right.
Then hammer a 16mmm socket onto it and get out the impact gun.

Tough price to pay just to make them look pretty.

I'm slowly swapping them out on all of the vehicles.
I HATE THEM!!!!

it's annoying in my own garage when I have the tools to deal with it.
I don't want to deal with it on the side of the road somewhere.
