Okay people, it's official--I took GWB off my speed dial mid way through the second term. His border policy, open checkbook approach to the legislature and limp-wristed action in regards to Barney Frank & Fanny/Freddie have caused me to de-friend him.

As for peering into Putin's soul, maybe there is some truth to the rumor that he hits the bottle occasionally...

But as bad as he was, our current "Dear Leader" is in another league altogether.

As for Putin--the guy is evil. He's selling missiles to Hussein during the embargo, starts a fight with a country that has 11 old fighter planes so he can control the oil flow to Europe, and generally threatens the West non-stop, mainly for reasons of political maneuvering. Honestly, I wonder why his name wasn't on the list of world's richest, with all of the oil graft money he's taken.

The best case scenario for this "gift" is outright politics. The worst case scenario is that it's a pointed joke. IMO, the whole monument should be moved to the Clinton library. Please, someone tell me that they "get" it.

cordy do you have to take everything into politics?

is putin a nice guy, probably not.
no person is perfectly good, with no evil.
Perhaps we can simply embrace the good that came from someone who may be not be our choice as a leader.

9 11 was tragic.
let's just take it at face value shall we and honor those who lost their life that day.

It would seem that I have a one-track mind lately. Regarding my opinion of Putin, that's based on his past actions only.

Pretty shameful that 2-1/2 years after the fact, nobody knows about this.

Even more shameful that if we ever said a proper "thank you" for the gesture, nobody here heard it, either.

Wonder who it was that saw to it that the media skipped this?

I asked myself this same question. It was placed TWO YEARS ago. Where was the media?????? Hmmm, guess they don't care about good news.
The media does NOT care about good or positive news only "doom and gloom"

What I find fascinating is that apparently no one from the white house attended the formal ceremony.
That might go a long way towards explaining why it stayed off of the media radar.
