My best friend moved out to Montana about 20 years ago and I’m hoping to finally make it out there to visit him and his family. He is building a Cobra and we set that as a goal that when he is done I’m going to go out there and we are going to break it in!

Leaving on Wed am to LAX for a 1 day layover....then on DOWN UNDER to Australia for an 18 day tour
Any suggestions from those who have been there? We'll be in Melbourne, Adelaide, Ayers Rock/ Ululu, Cairns/Barrier Reef and winding up in Sidney. It's an Overseas Adventure Travel trip, with a small group of about 15
We are prepared for hot weather..especially in the north. With the reversed seasons, it will be like our temps at the end of April. Have heard that kangaroos are all over the place....like deer here in Northeast of the USA.
Wonder if I'll see any S2000's there? Betting not many will be sighted.

We leave for a week in the DR on November 3rd. Nothing fancy, just a week away for our anniversary.
Jerry- I was there 22 years ago. Worked in our Melbourne office for about a week, then took 10 days. Went to Cairn, Kings Canyon\Uluru\Kata Tjuta, and then Sydney.
Melbourne is fairly modern. Since we were working, it was office, dinner, hotel, repeat, repeat. On the weekend, we drove the Great Ocean Road one day, and did the whole turtle thing in that area one night.
In Cairns, I took the fast catamaran out to sea. It goes out further in 1 day than any other ship. They have a pier moored out that has food and gear on it. There was a small submarine tour, snorkeling, scuba (for beginners and expert).
Sydney is fantastic. I had some kind of tour each morning - The Harbor Tour, a City Tour, and a wildlife park North of the city. Each afternoon, I spent hours just walking the harbor and streets, particularly the "Rocks" section. I regret not seeing a show at the Opera House. I didn't walk the Harbor bridge.
I flew into Alice Springs IIRC. Took a bus tour to Kings Canyon for a hike/BBQ/nighttime sky talk. Next day was a tour of Uluru then Kata Tjuta, left the 3rd day.
Enjoy it. 18 days should give you plenty of time. How structured is the tour? Do you have hours off each day, or days off entirely to do for yourself?

HeyitsGary: rethink Tangier’s. That was the most threatening place we’ve ever visited. Women need to wear drab clothes and fully covered. Robed men - as in unemployed - on every corner. We tried to get away by ducking into a hotel. An hour later they were still waiting for us. We only made it back to the ferry to Gibraltar with help of a French Embassy soldier. We went over on a day trip. What a unpleasant time! Go to Alumbra in Grenada instead.
