A 2017 S2000?
CarBuzz.com article
"Expected in 2017, the next-generation S2000 will feature a mid-engine layout, all-wheel drive and a hardtop. Expect the car to integrate some form of hybrid technology (developed in collaboration with McLaren Formula One), allowing it to produce a total of 350 horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, while still providing fuel economy of around 40mpg. The S2000 will fit in well under the soon-to-be-released $160,000 NSX, and is expected to cost approximately $60,000. We’ll have more details and photos as they emerge."

Sounds like the "Baby NSX" that they have been talking about for almost two years. I wish they would drop the hybrid drive train and make it $15K cheaper.

This topic is being covered pretty extensively right now in Car Talk section of the site. As far as I'm concerned, it's vapor-ware (the term used to discuss software that hasn't been produced yet and might not ever be).

Reminds me of UK's Autocar scoop about the S2000 in 1997......... it was just full of misinformation about the secret S2000 in the works. In 1998 R&T did the big cover spread on the SSX (what they thought it was going to be called). Speculation sells magazines even if its pie-the-sky stuff.
