Default 2006 Lunar and Solar Eclipses

Here's the NASA website for info. Didn't realize there will be a total solar eclipse on Mar 29. Tonight's lunar eclipse won't be that impressive.

Thanks for this thread, Ms.P. I love to drink in every eclipse that I can.

Well then I guess that's as good an excuse to drink as any, Val.

We were going to see that eclipse in Antalya, Turkey, but couldn't get away for long enough. We are eclipse chasers. We've seen total and annular solar eclipses in Montana, Cabo San Lucas, Catalina Island, Aruba, Munich, and Puerto Vallarta.

If you've never seen one, you have no idea what you're missing. Day becomes night; stars come out; the corona (the sun's atmosphere), Bailey's Beads (the last bit of the sun's light shining through the valleys and canyons on the surface of the moon just before totality), the diamond ring effect just before totality, and solar prominences (hydrogen flares) are incredible; the shadow of the moon races by at approximately 2,000 mph; the temperature drops suddenly about 20

I don't have any digital pics. I'll try to scan an eclipse sequence.

Speak for yourself. I'm on my second or maybe third (whatever I lost count) drink while I'm waiting. He'd better hurry and post or I'll be blind by the time he gets the pics up.
