1st required service. 7500 or 15000?
I am in California so I follow the normal service schedule. My car has 6700 on it and I have changed the oil and filter at 2500/mile intervals or two times so far. Once at 2000 miles again at 5500 miles. According to my manual, I don't need to have it serviced until 15,000 miles. The car has a little over 12 months in service. What do you do? Should I get it in earlier for a checkup or just keep up with the oil and filter changes and wait until 15,000 miles? The car hasn't really been in vtec that often. Maybe a total of 5 times and that was mild. Haven't been over 100 mph yet. What do you suggest?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It looks like you have done two 7,500 mile services already. Are you using synthetic oil?
You sir, are in overkill mode. I change the oil and filter every 6,000 miles and do ALL the inspections myself, as per the normal conditions schedule.
I suggest you have a little more fun with the car and think less about the maintenance.

Some will scold you for changing the factory fill oil too early, but not me.
Some will suggest changing the transmission and Differential oil now. They claim the initial fluids come out quite dirty. They attribute this to break-in. I think Xviper is an advocate of changing the tranny and diff oil early.
Everyone suggests laying off the synthetic motor oil until 10 or 12 thousand miles.

Since 1984 all my Honda's have had their oil and filter changed at 3000 miles and I never reved them to 9000 RPM
This car will get the same treatment regardless of the factory manual;why because it's my car now not Honda's

It looks as though you're reaching the time limit before the mileage limit. So I don't believe that changing your oil every six months, which is what it looks like you've done, is overkill. Especially if those miles have been a lot of short trips. If the miles you put on the car don't change, I can see you doing things a bit "early" although it's not really early when you consider time also. Probably too soon for the 15,000 thing though.
You do want to test that vtec out more frequently though. :-)

I do understand that you should change oil at X miles or X months, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. I go by the time that's passed, as I reach 3 months before I drive 3500mi.. Time and heat break down oil, maybe as much as engine function.

Never been past 100mph? I tell you what I had mine doing 128 at 2:00a.m. on a 2 mile stretch of open freeway, when I got off on the off ramp I looked over at my buddy and he had a big sh*t eatin grin plastered all over his face! Now that was FUN.
Oh yeah oil change frequency, you be the judge whatever you feel is right is right.
