Well, I guess I've got an inferior command of the language. That's why I have a Thesaurus and dictionary next to my computer at home, and use them.

Nice to have you here, Valentine.

I forgot to ask: do they have to be in that order in the sentence? HPH

Don't you routinely kowtow to laissez faire quasars while standing on your wrought iron ziggurat?

By the way, I think the idea of such a list is silly, being way too arbitrary. The more you read, the bigger your vocabulary will be. But *which* words get in to your vocabulary depends entirely on what sorts of things you read.

Well, hurry up and use your superior intellect to compose that helluva sentence, smarty-pants.

And, Mike, I agree with you. I can think of few times that I would have the need to use at least a dozen or more of those words. The word, "tautology" for instance would have no place in my speech or written communication, however, if I'm not mistaken the word "redundant" or "redundancy" has similar meaning and is the word I would choose.

I'll have to look at the list again, but I'll tell you that I might have to go to dictionary.com to find the meaning of many of them.

Gee, I guess I circumnavigated my high school years or my high school professors violated their fiduciary rsponsibilities to educate me properly.
On second thought I think my instructors probably expurgated my vocabulary assignments due to a prevelant pattern of nihilistic thinking which was present in my community.

On the other hand my instructors were probably obsequious because they were a homogeneous group that was too laquacious. They definitely didn't have an acumen for instruction and because of that, they caused an enervation in my motivation.

Now I find myself lugubrious and xenophobic toward others. And to that I say DARN!!!!!!

How can you have 'chicanery' on the list and not 'buffoonery'?!?

In my opinion, any word you come across you should know, either right that second or a few seconds later after you look it up. Language is too important to fake your way through it.

With that said, it looks like I got some lookin' up to do .
