[QUOTE=S1997,May 13 2005, 01:05 PM] I just got home from the hospital where I spent part of two days undergoing a trial procedure for implanting a pain medicine pump -- with a cathode that penetrates into the epidural space right where the spinal cord damage is. For the first time in years I was virtually pain free during the few hours that the trial dosage was working. I'm still very hesitant to do it, but I am considering it seriously. Doctors have tried everything since the accident that they could conger up; with essentially no luck. And I really resist taking opiates orally. I would never have thought that we could live with such high levels of pain and keep on acting like we are sane. I need to find a way if I can not to be such a curmudgeon around home! !

^ Gosh, I hope this works for you. Your situation sounds just like my mother's, but she still does take opiates, just not Oxycontin. She has tried everything for her back pain but this procedure. She just doesn't want anything implanted in her back. I have to respect her decision, but I kinda wish she'd change her mind. Keep me/us posted on how you are doing - if it provides longer-term relief, maybe I can convince her to try it, too. Good luck!!

Sounds interesting.

Is it something they can reverse if you try it and are not happy with it?

Rick had three major shoulder surgeries a few years back. They had some tiny (about the thickness of a hair) wire in his neck, blocking the nerves which led to the surgical site. (I think I have it correct) It was attached to a little bag which contained the meds which was some kind of novacaine. It kept him pretty much pain free so he required very few pain pills. They called it a "pain buster" or something like that. So with each of the two following surgeries, he made sure to tell them he wanted that again.

Is what they were trying out on you similar?

And I agree with Granny...I never would have known you were in such pain at the Fling. I'm amazed you can drive. My mother has a terrible time sitting for any length of time, and driving is even worse. I wish you the best with this trial run.

You can teach old dogs new tricks!

I wanted to post a few pics from our mini meet in MA this weekend, but the pics on the site were not working.

I tried photobucket.com. Took me a while to figure it out, but my pics posted!

I can see them, hope others can too.

Dean, as in Morris? I haven't heard from him either. I hope his wife is OK. I'll send him an e-mail.

The "Tire" thread boggles my mind. Anyone here running all-season tires? I need feedback on them as I'm leaning that way. I understand Pirrelli makes a good one but what do I know?
