You're right, I should have. But in my defense, by the time I got to the door, the FedEx guy was pulling away down the street.

^ Got it. Must have been the same driver that left a $600 air conditioner by my mailbox- which is a mile from my house and 20 feet from a public road. It sat there overnight. BTW he left it 5 feet from the callbox, and never called to say he was leaving it. I was amazed it was there in the morning, when I happened upon it.

Someone hacked my Amazon CC a couple/weeks ago and charged up over $400 for sprint wireless. I saw it on my bill, called the CC company and they took the charges off, closed the account and issued a new card. This card is dedicated only for Amazon purchases so imagine my surprise. I wonder if the CC companies try to find these people who steal? Speaking of stealing, we're in the process of renovating our old house in VA to put it on the market. One of our previous tenants thought it was okay to take nice storage shelving we had left in the downstairs workshop along with barstools we left at the bar. Since when did RENT mean you could take whatever wasn't nailed down when you move out? Grrrr.

I'm not sure CC companies follow up too much to try to recover costs. They simply write it off. Awhile back, someone charged three airline tix to Chile on my card. They just removed the charges and gave me a new one. Can't believe your renters. Best to be rid of them!!

For a couple of weeks I couldn't even think about what they did to our house without just losing it. Not only did they steal, but they had multiple pets that urinated all over the floors. Of course they left the urine on the floor until the floors were blackened. Beautiful red oak floors almost destroyed. The floor refinishers were doubtful of being able to refinish the wood. However, they did and the floors are beautiful -- but at a cost. The entire house was practically ruined and is having to be refurbished. I just hope all the work that is being done pays off. I'll be so glad to close this chapter. The carpeting in the rec room was damaged beyond repair, the whole house stunk from animal urine, garbage and trash was left behind and an upside down lamp was hanging in the dining room in place of a nice chandelier. New carpet is being installed June 3 and 4 and the house will then go on the market. We've signed a listing agreement and from this point on, we're just hoping someone comes along that wants to buy a very nice spacious home with a huge garage and that needs no work. The only problem area that I know of is that it has a small kitchen (with all new ss appliances though). Otherwise it should be move-in ready.

I hope you kept the security deposit to recover some of the lost money. You could always get after them in small claims, but it might not be worth the frustration...

Something you might not have considered, or don't want to, but what do you really know about the backgrounds of Mr. Jingles or Daisy?

Val, sorry to hear about your renter problem - thankfully, we were raised differently.

I'm going to run a background check on Daisy, since we've never had a problem with Mr. Jingles!
