Default Ztec Heat Shield Bracket Problem

I went on a trip to Lake George, NY this past weekend. While up there, I had to unclog my driver's side windshield squirter. So while I had the hood up, I noticed this:

That's where my heat shield used to be. The bracket just snapped right at the block. Luckily, the shield never made it out of the engine compartment.

Any ideas as to what would cause this? I spent about 12 1/2 hours getting up there, so the only thing I could figure was excessive heat. Unless the bracket was flawed from the get go. I'm baffled.

A "heat" shield should be able to withstand "heat".
I think it was the 12.5 hours of constant vibration and a defective bracket.

Well, after getting a PM from Ztec, I'm sending this puppy in so he can investigate it and possibly replace it for me. That's what I call customer service.

Thanks.

I can't imagine what would cause that kind of failure but that is a first - You WILL get a free replacement don't worry about that.
