Default Is your gas gauge like this?

Hello Everyone,

I've just purchased an '03 S2k. It's got the AP1 dashgauge cluster with the straight lines for the gas gauge.

Next to the "E" is a solid red bar that is always on. Next to that is a blank spot where it appears, perhaps, should be one of the yellow bars. Next to that is the first yellow bar.

Also, I ran my car about 10-15 miles past the last yellow bar going out (the one before the blank one that may be missing or out). Went to fill that car up and it took only 10 gal., and it's supposed to have a 13.2 gal tank.

So...

1. Do you guys with an AP1 have a "missing" yellow bar, or do you have a yellow bar immediately next to the red one?

2. If you let all the bars disappear, how many gallons to you get in?

Thanks.

Seriously? On the S2Kca forum, the biggest poster and moderator just replied that this is normal. There is not supposed to be a light there...

There is a 'missing' bar on all AP1 clusters. Why? I don't know.

I've driven 60 miles after the last bar disappeared, and I filled up 11.9 gallons. I believe the most I've ever filled is ~12.1 and I've stuttered into the gas station.

OK, that pretty much correlates with my findings. I drove about 10-15 miles after that last light went out. Filled up with about 10 gal. The tank is supposed to hold 13.2 gal. A poster on another forum said that there is not light there, it's supposed to be missing.

He said you have about 2 gal left when that last light goes out. That correlates well with what you wrote about 60 miles after the last light went out.

You know you have an ap1 right its not ap2. Why would you say it has a ap1 gauge cluster when it is an ap1 not ap2.

You are saying you have an ap1 gauge cluster right. Meaning someone took a ap1 gauge cluster and put it in an ap2, is that what you are saying

Yeah, I've got an 03, which is an AP1, and it has the original AP1 gauge cluster.
