Thanks for the props, all.

The taping was a labor of love. I've seen people skip the taping and just screw bolts into all threaded holes and just spray the VHT paint over the whole thing, including the spark plug holes,etc.

Also, I heard you could cover things you don't want painted with Vaseline or grease. You paint, then wipe off grease. ... not sure about that technique though.

'04-'05 cars have a different cover from the '06+ due to the elimination of the AIR pump.

no. the air pump has nothing to do with the valve cover

06+ uses one cam sensor in the valve cover vs 00-05 which use two

This is the red that vht makes. It's a little more orange than oem but its pretty close

Even after baking in the oven for the recommended time on the can, it continues to cure and the wrinkles even out as you drive the car. Its a good product.
