yellow box question

The yellow box on ricks2k.com, does it change the numbers on the digital dash to reflect actual situations, or does it have its own display? I am considering getting gears and considering the yellow box with it. Thanks
EDIT: Installation instructions make me 95% sure it uses the digital dash. Am i right?
