Arrow Yea, so, I was at the track...

Grinded my whole second gear. I'm sure it's balder then hair club for men...

I'm trying to make the best of this! Everything is in good shape. Second gear is totally gone. Here is my question!

Everything was going wrong...

My temps where sky rocket.
My Helment was making me more nervous.
My freinds didnt really help.
The though of breaking the diff came a lot into play.

I instinctly switched into second because i didnt want to bog out and kill the diff. (I started hitting the rev limiter through first gear.)

Yea, Ima need a few lessons after this whole fiasco.

What do I do??

No leaking of fluid; drove all the way home fine. All Gears are smooth as smoothie.

This sucks! My first time at the track and I get the big FAIL... lol

First thing to do, if you're going to continue to drive the car at all, is to change the transmission oil. Drain out any chunks of metal that might cause further damage. NOT necessary if the car remains parked until you repair/replace the transmission.

Since I've never been in that situation, I have nothing else to suggest.

Seems reasonable. Can I just change THAT gear out and be on my way? Or is it not that easy?

LOL transmission stuff is very very difficult. It's labor-intensive.

Call your local Honda shop (a reputable one) and ask them what the cost would be.

it could be that gear and another gear. Could also be many other problems that arose from that gear.. such as metal chunks that might have damaged something else.

dealers will eat you up with labor charges.
the gear itself costs alot from majestic honda (the lowest oem factory part i know of).

If it where another gear how can I just shift seemlessly into everything else?? 1,3,4,5,6,R Feel like they always have. No grind No problems. The problem instantaniously happen AT 2nd and from there i just drove home on 6 gear most of the time hwy miles. Putting it in 2nd does nothing as if it were to be in neutral still. Everything else is crisp.

Clutch is fine and engages are hard as it always has. I let it cool down though after the insident.
