would you say my timing is off? tdc
so the motor hasn't been taken apart nor messed with and i hear that sometimes with f20c motors they just go off timing. would you say that my timing is off a tooth??
here's a picture of the cam gears when the lines are lined up
on the crank this is how it sits (slightly off to the left)
so when i bring it to the first line there, the linement becomes a little off (question: is tdc on that first line or the middle line of the three?)
let me know if you think its normally like that or i need to adjust them
NOTE: when taking the pictures, yes i tilted the camera little to the left as how the motor sits straight

stop listening to whoever is telling you that.
There is no way this motor is jumping out of time unless a drastic failure occurs mechanically.
If it runs, it's good.
If it's one tooth off, it wont run.

Which way are you rotating the crank to line things up?
I recently took my head apart for the first time and I think the marks will be way off if you were off a tooth on the cam side
Do you have a non oem head gasket? Milled head?

thanks billman for pointing out the spark plug tube, but taking the pix it looks bout the same as my last picture. but here's the link i found about the tooth being off. it was just weird to me that unlimited said to check the cam timing and it happened to be it for the dude. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/844175-limp-mode/
but im running stock headgasket still. haven't messed with the timing nor anything with taking the motor apart..
so this picture here is pointed to the farthest line on the left of the crank. as you can see with the middle cam chain sprocket, the tdc lines arent aligned with the head. so can this be a reason my car is kinda running in limp mode?

Even this pic you are too high. Cannot see the mark alignment.
Set the crank with the white mark at the pointer.
If you cant see the colors because they are worn off, the notch on the far left is the white one. In other words, while turning the crank clockwise, it will be the last notch to reach the pointer.
In your pic with the pointer, you need to turn counterclockwise slightly.
After that, your two marks on the cams should point to each other. The marks will also align with the gap between the upper and lower cam cap. sight it dead straight. Fix the crank position, Get another pic

Heres a good straight pic of cam timing.
If the camera were a little lower, youd see the perfect alignment of the makes to the cam cap gap. but this pic is the best i've found so far.

a good pix or not, like i stated before with the crank arrow pointed to the white line, the cam gear lines do not pointed directly at each other. you can see with the teeths that its SLIGHTLY off by a little.
when the gears are perfectly straight, the crank pointer is slightly off to the left which i showed a pic in the beginning.
well its bothering me and i feel like i want to adjust it. should i for i know slightly off means OFF. basically i take the valetrain out, tnt off, and the chain can be pulled out?
