Worried about the burning smell.

I recently came back from WTD07 and noticed on the drive home that I was getting a burning smell inside the car. It's more noticeable when the top or the windows are down.
Now I think it's the clutch, but my only worries are that I changed the clutch last summer to a Stage 2 ACT along with the throw out bearing. I really hope that I don't have to replace it again, seeing that it hasn't been that long since the install.
I also notice a louder noise inside the car, down by the passenger side floor. It sounds like metal rubbing together. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm thinking the clutch is @#$ up,but I'm hoping maybe just maybe there's something else or a easy fix. It's not exactly the cheapest thing to repair, labor wise.

Burning clutch smell is very distinctive. If you know someone mechanically inclined in your area, have them give a whiff to see what they think.
If you were at the Dragon, it may actually be your brakes!!![wink.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Burning brake smell is different from clutch. So an experienced nose should be able to smell the difference.

The only thing though is that it smells all of the time as soon as I drive. I can't seeing it being the brakes. I will for sure take it too someone to have a smell.
If it smells like rubber, have you checked to see if you have a tire rubbing on an inner fender?

Thanks for the help, negcamber. There's no rubbing issues and the brakes seem to be fine. I would definately be looking elsewhere but the fact is I am getting that unusual sound inside the car. It's more noticeable when you rev the car. So that's why I'm thinking the clutch. I'll get it checked out.

I'd first get a second opinion on the smell. Otherwise you might pull the clutch all the way out when your problem was a stuck caliper.
