I started getting wear spots to the point where small holes could be seen. I have an 02 with 64k - no complaints. I found a thread about using shoe-goo and a square of soft top fabric to repair - and that's what I did.
If you go that route just be cautioned that it is more difficult that it sounds. Smearing the shoe-goo thinly and evenly on this fabric was hard to do, very messy, and you have to do it VERY quickly or the goo starts drying and turining into buggers. You also have to hold in place for a LONG time until it dries. I thought I was Ok on the driver side and started working on the passenger side when I noticed it peeling up. What I thought would be a relaxing, after dinner project turned into a stressful mess that required a few beers before attempting sleep. Results: functionally great, aesthetics fair-with having to use extra glue on the edges to keep them down, it looks like a hack attempted this after dinner.
Sounds like a cool project. Would almost rather do that instead of getting a new top put on. Almost prefer the look of a half inch tear on the top, than having the interior messed up...ie; broken panels, clips, carpeting, hardware, etc.

Well, just got back from Honda. It was so smooth! Made a call prior to heading there. Once arriving, I was greeted by the Service Director(which was a very cool guy). He knew of the wear issue on the S2k's, so he knew exactly what to look for. After looking at it for about 15 seconds, he say's..."Alright, I'll order you a top!".

He apologized that I was experiencing this at such low miles, and that he's gonna make this as smooth as possible for us. Top should be in early next week.

to Checkered Flag Honda!!!
