Default Worn Top...06 w/14k miles....

Well, made a terrorizing discovery a few hours ago. A wear spot on the top, where most have experienced. There is a fray area about 2 inches long, and a very small hole almost half an inch long.

The car is an 06, with 14k miles....I seriously cant believe this! Not a HUGE topdown guy, so I'm surprised at how this happened. Well, right now, I have some duct tape on it, just to keep it from getting worse til I get it to the dealer.

Just wanted to get some insight from you guys on how to go about this. I'm almost positive the dealer will take care of this at no charge...considering you can obviously tell its a frame rod that did the wear.

To the guys that have had a top replaced...have you had any issues afterward? Not sure how good the dealer will be with a reinstall. Is it hard to screw it up, break stuff, etc.?

Thats all, just wanted to get it out there. I'm still in awe, have had the car for 11 months, and this already!? Fantastic!!

Pete

Edit: Oh, and to the guys that say "HARDTOP!"....aint happening, that was the first thing I said to my wife 3 seconds after discovery.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, thats the one thing I'm worried about...the dealer not putting it together as well as it came from the factory.

Replacing the top is a large amount of work and can be easily screwed up if they don't know WTF they are doing.

After seeing some write-up's, on changing the top...I'm really leaning towards a 'repair'. I knew it was a pretty big job, but after seeing pic's of a step by step, it looks very intense. Not sure if I want some kid's at honda doing something like this.

So yeah, I'd be pretty happy with a repair, possibly something an upholstery shop would do.

Honda wouldnt be doing the replacement anyways. They would send your car to an upholstery shop for the work.

I reinforced the wear areas before they tore. And used a little silicone grease to keep the friction down.
