Thumbs up Windshield Q's

I notice that my windshield has a crap load of rock chips. when the sun hits it, looks like a bunch stars in daylight.

Question is, is there any way to make the glass new?(prolly not) JUst curious..

Anyone else has this problem? What did you do?

I have the same problem. You have two solutions: live with it or get a new windshield.

I tried polishing it with special glass scratch remover and just scratched the hell out of my test area.

The PPG replacement glass (not OEM) seems to hold up against rock chips better. If you get a new windshield, make sure they also replace the molding as it stretches when it's removed. The molding looks really bad if it's reused.

yea find a place that repairs rock chips. if you have full coverage they allow up to 3 a year. your insurance pays for it and it doesn't affect your insurance and you don't hve to pay for anything. or next time you're behind a semi truck with a number call that number and tell them their truck sent rocks into your windshield and they're usually replace it.

believe me, just replace the windshield.

call around and get a quote, my last care cost me $225 for a PPG windshield installed on site; it was MORE then worth it.

AP2autox, hehe i should try that with the trucks lol. I Called my insurance and they only allow 2 with $50 deductible.

Dark- I'll call around and see how much for a PPG.

I'm in no rush to fix it its just annoying when the sun hits it and instant dots!

Yeah, same problem, everytime I wash my car, park it under the sun to admire it, oh man, rock chips galore... the 3m scotchguard should be standard on the s2k but I digress.

There is no reason to commit insurance fraud just to replace a window.
