If the gears are installed properly, the whine should be VERY minimal...

Well, here's a confirming testimonial.

Before I installed my MY04 transmission I had a carrier (diff assembly) with a 4.44 installed that I got out of the front carrier of a Mazda B2600 4x4. It was pristine despite it's age.

I used it for the track and enjoyed it a lot. It was especially impactful when I had my supercharger and did my first water injection testing at Blackhawk Farms raceway. The torque that I was able to lay down out of the corners was nothing short of fantastic with the 4.44 and water injection.

However, I blew them up in less than 50 laps.

I now have the MY04 transmission and it's just as effective as the 4.44 but I get the top end of the 5th and 6th gears that I'd lose with a 4.44 alone. I'm much happier with the MY04 transmission than the 4.44 gears in comparison.

I'll soon have a track diff done with a 4.3 in it to swap in for track days at nearly everywhere except Road America. I'll need 5th gear there at the stock ratio for the three big straights.
That's not the first time I've heard great things about the trans swap. If I were in the right situation, I'd do the same. But, I have to be a little more focused on my wallet. That's why I'm looking for a good price on a set of 4.44s. I can get the gear swap done for less than $800. I don't think I could touch a trans swap for less than $2000. That's a big difference in price for me.

Yes there is. However, a $60.00 yellow jacket will fix it. Its available through The Go Fast Lab.
