Will my new spark plugs come pre-gapped?
So I just ordered 4 new NGK OEM double platinum spark plugs from sparkplugs.com, and I was wondering if they come pre-gapped or do I need to do that myself? Ive never done that and am affraid to break them. If I do, any tips? Are they sensitive and easy to break when trying to gap them? Whats the rule of thumb when gapping them by how much?

Actually from what I have been told, checking the gap will damage the coating on the electrode. It is stated in the Helms manual. So that means they ship gapped to spec.

It seems to me that any coating that will holdup on an electrode will tolerate the touch of a measuring wire. Obviously rubbing and scraping the electrode is not good but that is not the proper way to check plug gap anyway.
I have never received plugs from any manufacturer for any car that were properly gapped. 'Close' is what they usually are.

i just bought some OEM spark plugs from honda and all of them were gapped at .047 so they were not gapped propperly from manufacurer. The part numbers did match. So it's always better safe to check it.

Should be .040". Mine came pregapped but I still checked the gap. It says it will damage the electrode but if your careful it wont hurt a thing with the feeler gauge.
