Will a "blown shock" cause clunking/rattle noises?
Hi There
My car's been making some weird rattle/clunking sounds in the front left side. I checked it out and saw that the shock is leaker and looks to be blown completely.
I was wondering if this could cause the rattle/clunking sound? Anyone know for sure?
The reason I'm asking is that that Honda is charging me $95 just to diagnose the rattle. I want to be able to tell them "Just replace the shock please".
I appreciate any help anyone can give... and thanks!
PS- where can I get a cheap OEM replacement and would you let Meineke or a non-dealer shop do the job? Dealer's charging $300+ for labor alone.
Thanks!!!

1.
Then it needs to be replaced.
2. DIY, not a hard job at all, there are lots of threads giving you the basics on what to do....granted it's for Aftermarket stuff like Coil overs etc, it's the same principal.
3. It sounds like this is your clunking problem.........replace it and see if it fixes your problem. If not then go from there.
