so if you swap the harness by removing the dash is it plug and play?

Are the harness connections INSIDE the car? or do you have to pull the harness through the firewall etc?
The harness that needs to be replaced is all under the dash.

Potentially you could splice all the wires without removing the entire dash though. it just might be a tight fit for working within the cluster opening because there isn't too much slack on the harness. That harness is woven pretty damn far through all the HVAC ducting and such so I wouldn't look forward to having to replace it if you screw up. A little research and you could actually make a plug-and-play intermediary adapter to connect the ap2 dash harness to the AP1 cluster.

As for the voltage being returned from all sensors and such, I do not know whether the readings on the new cluster will be accurate with the AP2 voltage being returned. That would be where some knowledge of resistors and such will come in handy.

I think there could actually be a market for an adapter cable, especially as the price of these cars becomes lower and people begin experimenting more with parts combinations.
