Default Wierd thing happened today

I've only had my s2000 for a week and everything has been fine, it runs extremely well, has low mileage, but for some reason when I was driving it today something wierd happened.
I was driving totally normal in traffic, and I'm stopped at a light. It goes green and I put in first and beging going forward. As soon as I hit 3000 RPM it suddenly jolts and knocks me back to like 1000 RPM and a check engine light comes on. I pull over to a side street. It did this in first and second gear, whenever I hit 3 it pushed me back. SO I shut off the car let it rest for 5 mins, then started up again and everything was totally fine, except I still have a check engine light on.
Anyone know what it could be?

Easiest way to get an idea of what's not right is check the code. That'll tell you which direction to go to start repairing it, if needed.

If they do that in your area, that would be the quickest/easiest troubleshooting. The thing that sucks is that most if not all in my area (so. cal) stopped doing that

Did you get it from a dealer? It would be best to get that checked out before your run into more probs.
