I just recently bought a 2001 berlina black S2000 w/ 25,000 miles on it.
There's your problem. It's probably time for a rebuild. Honda only designed the S2000 engines to last 10K miles due to their high-revving nature. Each time you hear one of those pings, that's a little flake of metal popping off. There's a TSB out for this. You should look in the secret compartment for more information about the necessary parts to replace. I'd recommend not moving the car until you can get those parts replaced. And for best results, you should store it in an environmentally controlled storage building, between 50-65 degrees Fahrenheit and less than 40% humidity. That will help preserve the remaining metal.
