Default Wierd sounds after shutting off the engine?

I just recently bought a 2001 berlina black S2000 w/ 25,000 miles on it. The car seems great, however one thing does bother me. After shutting off the engine, I'll hear the car make sounds that sound somethinglike popping and pinging. Is this normal, or is there something wrong? If there, please let me know what I can do about it. Thanks.

A lot of cars do that. Typically when car is hot after a good drive.

make sure you dont do a hard run or vtec RIGHT b4 parking and leaving car if you keep the rpms low for a minute or 2 before you park and shutoff the car will have cooled enough so it doesnt make that sound much. If you red line every gear than park it the car is REALLY hot and doesnt kool gradually, the temperature just droped because the engine is off. Where as if you are driving the engine is still on and it kools gradually with the wind and low rpms...
