Default Wierd noise around 4k rpms

I've noticed that when I'm cruising around 4k rpms I start to hear kind of a faint whiney/chirpy sort of noise. It only does it at roughly 4k rpms, regardless of what gear I'm in, and only does it while I'm pressing on the gas. If I let off the gas, it stops completely. Anyone else have this or know what it is?

yes, i have exactly what your describing. whistle/chirp under throtte at any gear. my noise starts at 3800 rpm and continues to about 42-4400 depending if i go up a hill or how hard i press the throttle. i have an apppointment at honda tomorow at 2:30 for another reason but im going to ask them about it. im not paying 100 dollars for some diagnostics but ill see if they know whats up.

either of you have intakes? or removed the stock air box lid? Both will create a whistle as certain RPMs.

I had it from the day I bought my car until I changed my intake. It was also around 4k RPM. I really don't think it was an issue.

It's not an issue.. intakes act as resonators. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resonator

I just have a K&N drop-in. Would that be enough to do it?

That's exactly what I had when it was making the noise. Drop-in K&N filter with the stock intake box. Now I have the K&N FIPK and no longer experience the noise (and I love the sound!)

Cool, thanks for the feedback everyone. I guess I'll get to putting an intake on sooner than later.

FIPK will make the noise too, guaranteed. Probably just gets drowned out now.. I can hear mine (I have a FIPK) with the top down in low gears.
