Default why? SRS question

I have read for about an hour on SRS light. I know how to shut it off or just bring it to Honda, but that is not my concern right now. Deciding on doing it myself and bringin it to Honda is what I am wondering is better.

My SRS light came on and I have no idea why.

Car is fully stock. Just bought it in August, 2003. I have a little over 2000 miles on it. New years eve car is perfect. I drive to a friends house and park it around 7:30PM at about 2 in the morning people were leaving so I wanted to move my car. I got in the S, at this point I dont remember seeing SRS light, but I jumped in car, moved in real quick 10 feet and got out of car. Quickly and I was not paying attention to the gauges really. At noon time on new years day I get in my car to go home and my SRS light is on and doesnt go off....got home and it was still on.

I am just curious why it would do this. The weather was cold but it has been cold here in NY and my car has been cold alot, I start her up and let her run for a few minutes. So its not like this was the first time the car has been out in the cold. I want to shut SRS light off myself but there is no reason that I can find as to why it came on and so I would prefer to bring to Honda just so I feel more safe that the airbags still work and that their is no problem.

Any possible reasons would seriously help and probably ease my mind more
thanks
JP

With the age of your car I would have to say take it to the dealer. There should be no charge for any of the work they do on it unless it was caused by you adding some aftermarket stereo or other electronics.

Yea, it is completely stock, only thing added is ricks badges and i doubt that caused the problem! I dont mind going to the dealer but I just wanted to see if I did something wrong or not, and since i see no reason as to it being my fault, i will make sure they dont charge me. Only if it was my fault I didnt wanna start something knowing i was at fault.

thanks for the quick answer.

Sure thing. From what you've described, I don't see you doing anything wrong. Most likely they will just clear it and let it go unless it comes back on for them. Better to be on the safe side though by having them do it.

I think this post might be just a little late to help the OP.
