Please do not play the victim....if you want an accolode, here it is: D_S_R was right when he stated that GMSFM is a good tranny fluid.

Now, the jury is till out in my book, so if it turns out that GMSFM causes a problem, are you gonna pay the deamage claims? Can't have it both ways, chief.

Hmmm...was looking around to buy some GM synchromesh and i noticed a post on Honda-tech stating that there was a fully synthetic version of it for NV4500 trannies...

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=...ostid=10756590

General Motors (Part #12346190)
Chrysler (Part #4637579)

I also found a link suggesting that the proper replacement for this with redline products is a 50/50 mix of MTL/MT-90....interesting.......

http://www.hrpworld.com/client_images/ecom...eader/488_1.pdf

anyone heard of this?

Skeptical at this point but curious........I think this is titled GM's Synthetic MTF....

Edit:.....another discussion I've found on this MTF.....still trying process everything...

Do not mix RL Mt-90 and MTL. Gernby didn't like it and that is good enough for me. It broke down very fast-not sure if there was any damage done. This 'blend' might work for some applications, as not all transmissions are created equal.

I have put ~750 street miles (to date) on the GMSFM. Honestly, it feels like MT-90 with a tad less notchiness. I think the original GMS, without the FM, was actually smoother though it didn't have the desired longevity. Time will tell with the GMSFM.

RR, incidentally, I had a bad valve cover seal, leaking catch can and drain valve. I feel these contributed to my oddly excessive oil consumption that I complianed to you about. All leaks are now fixed, and I have only lost one diamond on the dipstick after 1000 miles of 10w-30 Amsoil.

I will see how it fairs in more inclement situations

Asura, thank you for your honest appraisal on this. I think I was wise to hold off till next spring before making the final judgement on it. Maybe then, we will get more "long term" evaluations. We all knew that the regular GM syncromesh was good but only lasted a short time. If the FM is only marginally better, it would only be worth a switch if it lasted longer. Since I have nearly zero issues with grinding and such, I'm not in any hurry to "experiment".

My issues are with heat. Under hot conditions, some fluids grind more due to how their viscosities change with heat. To date, (from the current offerings) MT-90 wins in this department. I will be testing this in 100 degree desert temperatures with 20-30 mins of 9K rpm shifting. We will see what happens. I may just give up on fluids and rig a tranny cooler with a thermostat.
At this point, I think the FM is inferior to the non-FM synchromesh. Just my opinion from street driving in the last couple of weeks.

editted for grammar

Two more possible source solutons for GMSMFM: Caddy dealers and transmission repair specialty shops.

I got mine from the latter and he knew all about the difference.
